FMT

 

It is essential to first obtain an FM-T (temporary visa), good for 180 multiple entry days, and it's obtainable at the border of the Mexican side, in order to fulfill the current requirements to obtain a final FM-2/3

 

a). You will need a current U.S. passport.

b). You need to pay a fee at the border.

c). An appointment is essential to fulfill all legal requirements. For this type of visa Nezter attorneys can represent you by means of a power of attorneys Remember that   renewals can be filed one month before the   expiration. (This is to avoid paying penalties.)

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your first FM-3 has expired and you need one for another 5 year period, you need to take  a new set of photos.


We want to emphasize that an appointment is required to handle any NEW or renewal       application (s), way before the expiration date (at least 30 days) to comply with local       immigration rules.

A COURTESY REMINDER: When you become a legal property owner, it is highly recommended that you keep ALL your utility bills under the current owner’s name plus maintain an FM-3 at least two years. This will help you minimize your capital gains taxes when you ultimately sell your property.

    • FM3: FIRST TIME

     

UP TO DATE REQUIREMENTS FROM OUR LOCAL IMMIGRATION OFFICE TO OBTAIN A FM-3 THIS APPLIES FOR NEW APPLICATIONS AND IS FOR FULL/ PART TIME RESIDENTS

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you travel to Mexico and your stay is more than three days, it's essential to obtain Temporary Multiple Purpose Immigration Form (FFM) it’s the law! This is obtainable at any Tijuana or Otay border crossing in the Mexican side, or other borders. This is NOT available at the Mexican Consulates. FMM is valid for six months with multiple entries. Once this is on hand, you should not have a problem, obtaining your FM3 adding the following documents:

1). FM-M (Multiple Purpose Immigration Form) <<<New Name...
2). Current original passport.
3). Provide a copy of your property ownership (Bank Trust) or (Renting agreement).
4). Copy of your last bank statement, either from a U.S. or Mexican account. Accounts must show an average balance of $ 1,200 Dls for a single person or $ 1,800 for a couple. 
5). Five black and white photos (FM3 miniature size ONLY) three front and two side profile. Please remove your glasses before taking those pictures.
6). Copy of your marriage certificate (If applicable)

 

The cost of Official Immigration Government fees are $ 1,785 pesos approx. (fees varies every three months) and this costs does not include service fee and translating fee. All these fees are payable directly at any local bank, (with special format we have in our office to file this payment

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: If you have an official FM-3 and you need to bring your entire household property. You may do so for ONLY one time (inquire for details) or get more detail from a Mexican Consulate...
MORE BENEFITS: You may reduce your property taxes to 50% simply if you go to any DIF at City Hall and file for an INSEN card, this applies to those who are 65 and older.
TAX REDUCTION : We highly recommend, once you get your final original Bank trust, to change the name (s) on your utility bills, to match the names on the bank trust. This will help you minimize your “Capital Gains taxes” when you ultimately sell your property.

NEW IMMIGRATION RULE: As of now, anyone who is making a NEW application or RENEWING an FM-3 REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY YEARS, BUT OWN PROPERTY (SHOWING A TRUST), you may now apply if this fits your needs, to apply for an FM2 "without" having to wait the normal 5 year term. Few changes have been made, so please call our Immigration Specialist who will be more than pleased to provide those details. A card will be now issue instead of the old book you were use to see.
FOR ALL RENEWALS: You need to do practically the same thing as when you acquired your fist time FM3, and MUST be renew every year before the expiration date shown in your official form. Early renewal avoid penalties. To make New or Renewal application goes smoothly, it's recommended that you give us your "POWER OF ATTORNEY"

FM3: RENEWAL

REQUIREMENTS TO RENEW YOUR FM-3 MIGRATORY VISA
WE HIGHLY SUGGEST READ AND FOLLOW EACH STEP:
1). We need your individual FM-3 original, plus one copy from pages 1 - 12
2). Original U. S. passport plus, we will make all necessary copies.
3). Copy of your bank statement, either from U. S. or Mexican account. Accounts must show an average balance of $ 1200 Dls. for a single person or $ 1800 Dls. for a couple.  If you are a property owner, we highly advice to legalize your immigration status in Mexico
4). Proof a residency: For all renewals, show a utility bill of Mexico; (Water, Electric or Phone)
5). Official Immigration Government fees are $ 1,294 (pesos) approx. (fees varies every three months. ALL these fees are payable directly at any local bank branch. In addition, an administration fee and translating.
6). An appointment is essential to fulfill all legal requirements. To make this application (s) go smoothly, it's recommended that you give us your "Power of Attorney" and renewal must be done before the expiration date (at least 30 days) to comply with local immigration rules.
With the above documentation, we should have no problem renewing your FM-3 We'll even help you fill out the INAMI application (National Institute of Immigration application) There's an additional charge for service fee and translating.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE:   If your first FM-3 has expired and you need one for another five years, you'll need to take a new set of photos. Remember, this are special size photos and we have a place to recommend to the correct ones.

BENEFIT TO REDUCE YOUR CAPITAL GAINS TAXES:  It's highly recommended to immediately change the current owner's name (s) in ALL your utility bill (s). This will definitely help you minimize your capital gains taxes.

 

UP TO DATE REQUIREMENTS FROM OUR LOCAL IMMIGRATION OFFICE TO OBTAIN IMMIGRATED STATUS, THIS APPLIES FOR NEXT FIVE YEARS AND IS FOR FULL TIME RESIDENTS
1.  First, you will have to fulfill the first five five year FM-2 period. 
2.  Provide a current US passport (original)
3.  A Bank Trust or (rent/lease agreement).
4.  Copy of the last 3 months bank statement, either from a U.S. or Mexican account. Accounts must show an average balance of $ 1,200 Dls for   a   single  person or $ 1,800 for a couple
5.  Marriage Certificate must be translated into Spanish, plus it must be certified (“Appostille”). Please note: “Appostille must be done in the State where you were married”!

 

NOTE: WITH THIS PROCESS, YOU OBTAIN YOUR PERMENENT RESIDENCY IN THE COUNTRY AND THE BENEFIT  IS THAT YOU NO LONGER HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR LEGAL STAY IN MEXICO (THE IMMIGRATED STATUS   IS   A   NOT   A   DUAL CITIZENSHIP)
